UVS Games Makes A Titan-Sized Announcement With ‘Attack On Titan’

Add another mark in the ‘Didn’t Expect That In 2023’ column, UVS Games has announced another IP coming to the massively popular UniVersus CCG following their recent Godzilla announcement. The UniVersus CCG will become home to Attack on Titan in 2024.

Yes, that Attack on Titan.

Per the official press release:

UVS Games, the publisher of the acclaimed UniVersus Collectible Card Game(CCG), is teaming up with Kodansha, Japan’s top publishing house, to bring a legendary IP to the UniVersus CCG: the globally acclaimed and New York Times best-selling manga series Attack on Titan.

Coming in 2024,Attack on Titanwill be releasedfor the UniVersus CCG bringing the manga masterpiece by Hajime Isayama to life. With original and reimagined artwork from the manga, it will feature fan-favorite characters from Attack on Titan. It will be a welcoming experience for UniVersus CCG newcomers while stilloffering a strategic depth for experienced players, allowing all experience levels the ability to enjoy the thrill and fun of the game.

What we are finding most interesting is that they are specifically calling attention to the manga as opposed to the anime. This could have something to do with the details of the anime-specific licensing agreement being held by another trading card game company and their anime-extensive game. Or it could be just a way for them to bring something truly unique and fresh to the table top. Either way, the idea of original and reworked manga art on UniVersus cards is absolutely bonkers to think about. Imagine the XR-SR foiling on those!

The UniVersus CCG is hitting the ground running following the formation of UVS Games and the announcement of returning to a Standard format. We are excited to see what Attack on Titan, and other future IPs, bring to one of our favorite card games in 2024 and beyond.
