‘Disney Lorcana’ Release Details Revealed

Ravensburger has unveiled via IGN the release details for their upcoming Disney Lorcana trading card game. The long anticipated game has been the talk of industry since it’s announcement last August. Almost a year later, the game will have a limited release at Gen Con 2023 (August 3-6) before its mass release to local game stores on August 18, followed by release to big box stores on September 1. Players attending Gen Con will have access to a limited selection of the game’s initial releases.

Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter will be the game’s initial set, featuring over 200 cards found in a wide variety of products:

  • Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter booster packs include 12 randomized cards, with one being a foil card and two being a Rare, Super Rare, or Legendary Rare.

  • Three different starter decks will debut at launch, each featuring two of the game’s six “inks” (think mana from Magic the Gathering) - Amber and Amethyst, Emerald and Ruby, and Steel and Sapphire. Each of the 60-card decks feature a specific list of cards, and includes one booster pack of The First Chapter.

  • The Disney Lorcana: Illumneer’s Trove will be a massive collectible set that includes eight booster packs, two deck boxes, a player’s guide, and a themed storage box. This seems to be very reminiscent of the bundles offered by Magic the Gathering and Pokemon.

  • The Disney Lorcana: Gift Set features Mulan and Hades, represented by two foil game cards and two oversized foil cards; four booster packs; and game tokens.

  • There are also plans for Disney Lorcana themed playmats, card sleeves, deck boxes, and card binders at launch.

Ravensburger has also announced an extensive organized play program to promote the game on a local store level, as well as get players into their stores.

Stay tuned to the site for more information as it becomes available as we follow the game on the road to its launch later this year.
