‘Warhammer 40,000’ 10th Edition Starters Announced
Games Workshop have announced the new starter sets for Warhammer 40,000 now that 10th edition is in full swing.
The Warhammer 40,000: Introductory Set features everything a player interested in the hobby would need to get started. The box includes 5 Infernus Marines, 10 Termagants, a Ripper Swarm, a game mat, dice, ruler, and tokens. For the hobby side, the set includes 5 Citadel paints, a brush, and pair of cutters. The set’s 48-page handbook features tutorials and basic missions to guide new players into the grim dark future.
Including and expanding upon the contents of the Introductory Set, the Warhammer 40,000: Starter Set also includes a Captain in Terminator Armour, 5 Terminators, a Winged Tyranid Prime, a Psychophage, 3 Von Ryan’s Leapers, an additional 10 Termagants, and a second Ripper Swarm. The Starter Set also includes simplified data sheets for all the models, a 64-page Handbook, and a Space Marine decal transfer sheet.
Finally, the Warhammer 40,000: Ultimate Starter Set contains all of the contents of the regular Starter Set, but also includes a Librarian in Terminator Armour, 5 Barbguants, plastic terrain (STC Hab Bunker and 8 stockades), two double-sided gaming boards, and a full Core Rules Booklet. The included booklet has all of the core rules for 10th edition, as well as Combat Patrol, with six missions for players to play out their battles. Additionally, both sets of models make full Combat Patrols for the Space Marines and Tyranids.
Additionally, Games Workshop will be releasing the Librarian in Terminator Armour and the Barbguants from the Ultimate Starter Set and the previously released Leviathan box as individual modes. This will be helpful to new players who might only be interested in the Starter Set as it would bring that box up to two full Combat Patrols armies as well.
To be honest, we are rather surprised that we aren’t getting individual releases of the new Terminator models as well. We supposed due to the fact that the Leviathan box is still fresh to market, they want that to be a massive selling point.
Are you excited for the new options to get players stuck into a game of Warhammer 40,000? Is there one you’re going to grab over the other? Or have you already snagged a box (or two) of Leviathan and will be skipping these? Sound off on our socials and let us know!
