Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic Announced

The Pokémon Company have announced the release of the Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic premium collection for later this year.

This premium collection includes three 60-card preconstructed decks, headlined by the original Kanto starters from the Base Set - Charizard, Blastoise, and Venasaur. The decks include brand new and reprints from the history of the trading card game, featuring an unique foil pattern on the cards. The decks themselves are protected by three different sleeve patterns and store in sleek deck boxes featuring the Energy symbols of the starters. It should be noted that, outside of the decks’ Basic Energies, these cards are NOT legal in any format. The intent seems to be to keep this a self-contained experience that will be timeless and balanced.

Along with the beautiful board, decks, and protective accessories, the set includes various accessories to give players the experience of truly epic battle. Normally cardboard or acrylic accessories are replaced by stackable, aluminum damage counters and Special Condition markers. They have also removed the need to roll dice by including a little chute for players to roll a metal ball, with the result determined by where the ball lands. The box the accessories are stored in matches the aesthetic of the board.

Currently, the official price and release date in North America has not been announced. The Japanese branch of the Pokémon Company did announce their version of the set will retail for $275. Hopefully the world-wide release will see some sort of similar pricing (as well as availability).
