Relaunch Of ‘HeroScape’ Fails To Find Funding

Hasbro has announced that they are shelving any future plans for HeroScape: Age of Annihilation - Vanguard Edition following the failure to raise enough funds via their HasLabs’ campaign.

As reported via Polygon earlier today, Hasbro is sticking true to their word and shelving the production of HeroScape: Age of Annihilation and all future plans for the game. They have stated that the Avalon Hill development team behind the game will instead refocus its creative energy on existing games that are still due to come out. They specifically mentioned Mage of the Mirror expansion for HeroQuest and the D&D strategy board game Yawning Portal as their current focus.

At the final moments of the campaign, they had reached 4,353 backers out of the 8,000 they needed. While there is much economic uncertainty in the world at the moment which could have caused backers to not flock to the game in the end, there could be several factors that led to the game ultimately failing to hit the 8,000 backers (which sounds a lot easier than the $2,000,000 those backers would have brought in at $250 a game). Regardless of the reason, we are sure the dedicated fanbase behind this game will mourn the loss of another chance to play a new chapter in the HeroScape saga.
