GenCon 2023: Paizo Announces ‘Starfinder Second Edition’
Paizo Inc. announced Starfinder Second Edition at GenCon this passed week.
The new addition of the popular science fiction roleplaying game will be fully compatible with the upcoming Pathfinder Remastered, as well as all future Pathfinder Second Edition products. This will allow players to use their Pathfinder content in combination with Starfinder Second Edition, and visa-versa. The updated edition of Starfinder will be published under the ORC (Open RPG Creative) License.
In attempt to be their most open playtest to date, Paizo released a Starfinder Field Test. Each Field Test will offer players a look behind the curtain with a portion of ongoing design work happening, as well as the various directions they are taking the game. The first Field Test release focuses on the first five levels of a new base class, the soldier, along with samples of futuristic weapons and creatures to play against. Field Tests will not offer players a feedback survey since it is meant as more of a behind-the-scenes supplement.
The full players will launch in Summer 2024. It will include additional classes, such as the mystic, envoy, and solarian. Players interested in Starfinder Second Edition’s playtesting should keep an eye on the official page.
