‘Sword Art Online’ 10th Anniversary Set Announcement

Bushiroad offered their community a look ahead at the future releases of CardFight! Vanguard and Weiss Schwarz with a post on their YouTube channel last night. The Bushiroad English Conference Autumn 2022 showed off some amazing new titles, but one stuck out to us the most:

For those that might not be aware, we are massive, massive Sword Art Online fans here at The Late Night Players. We were insanely disappointed when the anniversary set celebrating the original light novels, but we get it. The licensing rights in the United States are held by a separate company. Still, we are super excited to be able to partake in this one.

Sword Art Online was the IP that brought Weiss Schwarz, and Bushiroad as a whole, to our attention when we demoed it some many moons ago at one of our first Gen Cons. The first trail decks (their version of starter decks) we added to our collections were the original Sword Art Online deck and the Kill la Kill deck. Ironically enough, they also announced a Kill La Kill Power Up Set:

Sadly, we don’t have a release date for either of these as of yet. The Sword Art Online set is due out in Japan next month, so hopefully we’ll see it sometime after the first of the year or early summer 2023.
