New ‘Warmachine’ Two Player Starter Announced

Steamforged Games have released details on their upcoming Warmachine: Two Player Starter Set releasing in November.

Initially teased with the acquisition announcement back in June 2024, Steamforged Games is set to give players an all-new way to dive into the Iron Kingdom. The box will contain everything two players will need to bring two of the flagship armies of Warmachine to the table top, including:

• Major Allister Caine (Cygnar waracaster)

• Deuce (Cygnar character warjack)

• Captain Bastian Falk (Cygnar character solo)

• The Black 13th (Cygnar character 3-model unit)

• Kapitan Zahara Vilkul (Khador warcaster)

• Razor (Khador character warjack)

• Sergeant Goran Lazarenko, the Jackal (Khador character solo)

• The Hounds (Khador character 3-model unit)

• Scatter Terrain (4x Walls and 2x Shallow Water/Hazards)

The rules are available for free via the Warmachine app.

This looks to be an amazing way for players to truly get a chance to sample a great game without too much of an initial investment. One of the biggest complaints about the previous Warmachine MKIV release was that it was rather cost prohibitive for many new players to try the game. Both armies look to have a model count similar to a 30 point Recon game, making for solid foundations to build towards higher point games.

Plus…terrain. One of our biggest gripes with miniature game starter sets is the lack of terrain. While we doubt the 6 pieces included will do much in the way of filling an entire game board, we hope they will be substantial enough to get started.

The Warmachine: Two Player Starter Set is currently available for preorder via the Steamforged Games’ webstore and through friendly local game stores. It will retail for $99.99 when it releases later next month (November 2024).
